The Eye-Witness Account

I love this woman's style of narration although, I suppose, in real life, she would drive me nuts on a day to day basis.

Over the Skies of Norway

The people of Norway witnessed this strange sight in the sky around 8 in the morning on Dec. 9 2009. Could this be related to the CERN particle collider in Geneva? Is the a sign of the end times? A sort of trumpet call for aliens poised to attack? No. Sorry.

Apparently this is what happens when a Russia  rocket launch goes bad.  An unnamed Russian military official reported that a spiral light was due to a failed Bulava missile launch from a submarine in the White Sea. ( A warning to navigation was sent out prior to the event. http://www.frisnit.com/cgi-bin/navtex/view.cgi?id=1159919&lan=en&type=24H&message_filter=&search=ROCKET&station_filter=&date=2009-12-09&source=a4f7a470329caf85e2488355c7e88328&offset=0)

This kind of free light show would have had a lot of people jumping out of windows in a more populated area.

Izmir

It is rather spooky to take this drive again after being away for nearly 8 months. I can practically feel the hot slightly exhaust-flavored breeze in my face when I watch this clip.

My sea adventures!

video This is not my video, merely a rip-off from Youtube. The deepest I ever got in my scuba life was about three inches above my nose. This was in Cyprus, staying at some luxury hotel. In fact, we hadnt even planned on ACTUALLY diving that day, we had only wanted to ask about the prices. Suddenly we are stepping into kinky rubber suits- like trying to dress in cold beef liver- and having air tanks hoisted on our back. Frozen nervous smiles were exchanged. Never seemed to be the right time to say.. Whoa, there.
The problem was my vest wasnt fully inflated. Add the lead bars they attach around your waist and you're all set to become fish food. So the four of us walked to the end of the dock, flopping like ducks to the sea and jumped in..
I sank like a rock. I was desperately trying to stand on the ends of my fins, just to keep my head above the water. Mask fills up with water and my so-called scuba instructor is seen paddling away, never even stopping to look back. I just could not find a way to breath through the clumsy plastic thing in my mouth. I tried not to panic but enough was enough.
That was the total of scuba diving experience because I scrambled back to the dock and remained there for the remainder of my overpriced hour. Meanwhile Deniz and his instructor were apparently having the frolic of their lives.
The following day, his previous instructor was called away and he was fortunate enough to be coupled with my so-called instructor. He emerged about a half hour later with his eyes looking like Christopher Lee in Dracula, Prince of Darkness. He had managed to burst the blood vessels in both his eyes under 15 meters of water. We had to see an eye doctor who after an examination told Den not to scuba dive and, mysteriously, not to turn his head to the left or right suddenly. (Maybe his eyes would have been slung out of his eye sockets like to two pink yo-yos.)
Somehow we survived but, from now on, I think I will pass on any further invitations to scuba dive. My feet belong on land. Some experiences are better left in the vicarious category.
